During the first week of August, Heidelberg hosted a unique series of live folding demonstrations on the new drupa game changing Stahlfolder TH/KH 82-P. The remote demos featured the InterTech award winning “P” technology, and provided customers the opportunity to see postpress productivity live from the comfort of their office.

Through these live broadcasts, customers have the opportunity to choose a scheduled time or request a customized demo to focus on their specific needs and requirements. Each demo lasts about 20 minutes, and gives an in-depth look at the technology without having to make a trip to Print Media Center Atlanta. Folding Frenzy marks first time that Heidelberg has experimented with remote demos. Due to the overwhelming response, Heidelberg plans to roll out this initiative to other equipment in the future.

Printing Industries of America recently recognized Heidelberg’s groundbreaking “P” technology with the prestigious 2016 InterTech™ Technology Award. Judges agreed that the engineering ingenuity and enormous productivity gain made possible by the streamfeeding of the Stahlfolder TH/KH 82-P would advance performance in the graphic communications industry.

What does “P” mean?

With the revolutionary Stahlfolder TH/KH 82-P, Heidelberg’s peak performance approach expands to its successful Stahlfolder line. The new leading-edge “P” technology feeds a stream with an overlap of up to half the sheet length in the parallel and cross folding stations. This enables a 50% higher throughput at the same linear speed.

Three sheets can now pass through each fold station at the same speed and time that it took before to process two sheets when producing 16-page signatures. The portrait-fed Stahlfolder TH/KH 82-P sets new standards for enhanced performance. While the linear speed stays in the conventional comfort zone (below 170 m/min), the productivity increases – all possible on a wide range of substrates.
