Describe your role.
S: I am responsible for demonstrating the entire Prinect Prepress software suite to new, potential and existing customers. I support all press demonstrations by providing the jobs, plates and presetting data for the presses and manage the data feedback for the reporting feature within our software. I image and ship the printing plates for all potential consumables customers looking to switch to one of our many plate offerings from Saphira. I also image and ship the printing plates for all press service, which includes service work and new commissioning of press installations. I must manage the hardware, consumable products and quality of the above mentioned tasks.
What is your typical day-to-day?
S: There is no typical day! Although the tasks are somewhat repetitive, the arrangement of the day is never the same. There is usually a webinar or two demonstrating our Prinect workflow software. Occasionally, customers will come in person to see a live demo of the software. Preparing the jobs for any press demonstrations. Multiple plate imaging requests between service and consumables. The plates that are imaged to be shipped out need to be slip-sheeted, packed in unique boxes ensuring the product is delivered without damage. If it is the new Saphira ND100 plate, which is our newest offering of a develop-on-press plate, they must be wrapped in black plastic to ensure no light intrusion to the plate. Always looking ahead to the upcoming demonstrations and preparing for them. Not to forget the countless emails that you strive to keep organized and respond to.

S: Number one is my teammates! The team I work with is first class all the way.
What are your customers like?
S: My customers are OUR customers. My involvement with our customers is typically when I conduct the webinars and demonstrations of the software. Sometimes, it can be a challenge demonstrating via the web without seeing the reactions face to face. However a Heidelberg representative is typically onsite with the customer during the webinar which helps deliver the product well. The customers are typically responsive and thankful for being shown how our software solution can improve their efficiency in the print shop.
What is your favorite feature about Prinect?
S: What I like most about Prinect is the seamless integration of the products. Developed and supported by Heidelberg, Prinect offers a workflow solution unlike any of our competition.
How has the prepress process evolved since your first day on the job?
S: Networking speeds and technology advancements have made the process faster and more stable than ever. The ability to communicate externally with the client has advanced and improved allowing a more user-friendly experience for the client. There is also more power, storage and automation in a smaller footprint. Overall, prepress has offered a much more streamlined workflow for the operator.
